High-altitude wind turbine to go into operation in fall 2025

Interest in further high-altitude wind turbines in Germany

The project is being implemented on behalf of a subsidiary of the Federal Agency for Leap Innovation - Beventum GmbH, as Gicon announced. "There is a great deal of interest in further wind turbines of this type and talks with the first users are in full swing." Coordination is underway for further sites. There is the potential for 1,000 more high-altitude wind turbines by 2030.

High-altitude wind turbines to be integrated into wind farms

According to Beventum GmbH, the first installation of such a high-altitude wind turbine is expected to cost 25 million euros. "We will build the world's highest wind turbines (...)", says the company. They will utilize the particularly strong high-altitude wind and be integrated as a second level in existing wind farms.

An installed mast for wind measurement at the Klettwitz wind farm initially provided insights for the project. Beventum from Leipzig says it wants to make innovative wind power technologies usable for the economy.
