It is uncharted territory in wind energy: the construction of a wind turbine more than 350 meters high. The project in the Brandenburg municipality of Schipkau in Lusatia is set to take shape in 2025.
According to the company Gicon in Dresden, the foundations of the unique high-altitude wind turbine, which is almost as high as the Berlin television tower, are to be poured in the first quarter. The research facility at the Klettwitz wind farm (Oberspreewald-Lausitz district) is expected to be commissioned in the fall of 2025.
The company is talking about the world's tallest wind turbine. The turbine on a former open-cast mine site has a hub height of 300 meters and reaches a height of around 365 meters including the rotors. Previous wind turbines are around half this size.
