The energy system manufacturer Yados in Hoyerswerda is expanding its capacities. Yados and its Liechtenstein-based parent company Hoval plan to invest around 20 million euros in the project, as the company announced at the symbolic ground-breaking ceremony on Thursday. The Free State of Saxony is also involved in the investment. With the expansion, Yados wants to prepare itself for the market growth in heat pumps and district heating components, among other things.

With two new production halls, the production area is to be doubled by the end of the year. The go-ahead for operations is planned for the beginning of next year. Accordingly, the expansion of the production area to around 24,000 square meters will increase the number of employees from the current 320 to more than 600. The first excavators had already rolled in at the beginning of the week.

At the ground-breaking ceremony, the District Administrator of Bautzen, Udo Witschas (CDU), emphasized: "The future-oriented company expansion of Yados GmbH will not only contribute to numerous new and secure apprenticeships and jobs in Hoyerswerda, but also to the attractiveness of the entire Lusatia region."

In addition, around 1500 solar modules on the new hall roofs will generate around 500,000 kilowatts of electricity per year with the aim of creating a so-called "green factory". Yados has been producing district heating stations and combined heat and power plants in Hoyerswerda since September 2009.
