In a nationwide comparison of major cities regarding satisfaction with mobility, the Saxon state capital of Dresden came out on top. It was followed at some distance by Leipzig, Munich and Nuremberg, as the automobile club ADAC announced on Tuesday. Drivers as well as users of public transport, cyclists and pedestrians were surveyed for the city ranking. The survey looked at 15 major cities with more than 500,000 inhabitants.
According to the ADAC survey, residents and commuters in 13 of these 15 cities are "generally satisfied" with public transport. The exceptions are Duisburg and Cologne. Good marks were given in particular for the density of stops, short distances when changing trains and signage at stations.
Cyclists and pedestrians are also largely satisfied with mobility - only car drivers are largely dissatisfied. Those who were motorized in the cities criticized above all high parking fees in the city centers and complained that e-scooter drivers and cyclists did not obey the traffic rules.
