Whether by car or train - travelers in Saxony will need patience in the coming months. Construction work is underway on many routes, and some roads and railways will only be usable to a limited extent, as a survey by Deutsche Presse-Agentur shows. An overview:
Highways
- A4 near Wilsdruff: road resurfacing until December. Despite construction work, the usual three lanes will remain open in both directions, two of which are marked for trucks. However, the lanes are narrower, so drivers must expect speed limits. The Wilsdruff exit towards Aachen is closed until the end of the year.
- A4 near Chemnitz: preparatory work is underway between Limbach-Oberfrohna and Chemnitz-Mitte as well as between Glauchau-West and Hohenstein-Ernstthal for later renovations.
- A4 Königshainer Berge Tunnel: the south tunnel is closed until the end of 2025. Traffic will move in two-way traffic through the north tunnel.
- A72 near Chemnitz: road resurfacing between Chemnitz-Süd and Chemnitz junction until December. Chemnitz-Süd and Chemnitz-Rottluff junctions temporarily closed.
- A17 near Pirna: renovation of the Seidewitztal bridge from mid-August to the end of October. Only one lane and a speed limit of 100 km/h will be in place for four kilometers.
