A 30-year-old man fell under a streetcar at Westplatz in Leipzig and was seriously injured. The man fell near the tracks, a police spokeswoman said on request. The streetcar was unable to brake in time and hit the man on his lower limbs. The "Leipziger Volkszeitung", among others, had previously reported.
The accident occurred at 4.45 p.m. at the stop of the same name. The man was responsive and was taken to hospital for further treatment.
Käthe-Kollwitz-Straße was initially completely closed for the rescue work and later reopened to one lane. The restrictions have since been lifted, according to the police.
