Nature can also come on wheels - in the Umweltmobiles. The mobile laboratories from all over Germany are now meeting in Naunhof near Leipzig. The aim is to make biodiversity tangible.

Rush hour for environmental protection: eco-mobiles from all over Germany are traveling to Naunhof (Leipzig district) this Thursday for their annual meeting. The Saxon State Foundation for Nature and the Environment announced that the theme of the exchange of experiences is "People and Water".

Environmental mobiles on the road as mobile laboratories

Environmental mobiles were created to make biodiversity tangible on site. The vehicles equipped for this purpose are intended to serve as a kind of laboratory. They support schools and kindergartens, for example, with age-appropriate nature and environmental protection activities.

Children should get to know animals and plants better

Robert Clemen, head of the state foundation, described the environmental vehicles as an "ingenious invention". "With their technology, they come directly to the children in nature. Here, they act as outdoor laboratories and help children to get to know and love animals and plants better."

Environmental mobiles have been around in Saxony for a long time

Environmental mobiles have a long tradition in Saxony. There are currently 34 eco-mobiles registered in a nationwide working group. The sponsors include nature conservation stations, the German Forest Protection Association and the Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz (BUND) in Germany. In Baden-Württemberg, North Rhine-Westphalia and Saxony, they are maintained directly by the state.
