Is a dinner show still a dinner show if you leave out the dinner? In Dresden, you’ll be able to ask this question at least once this coming season. For the first time, you can buy tickets just for the show—and skip the traditional four-course meal featuring duck leg as the main course—for Mafia Mia and Moments, the two major dinner shows at Ostrapark. You can do it, but you don’t have to. “Show-Only” is the name of the new offer, and seats are limited. Starting at 49.90 euros, you can enjoy an evening of acrobatics, music, comedy, and dance—just without the obligatory dinner. You can still eat if you’d like: There’s a separate area for guests with bistro tables, and self-service drinks and small snacks (cheese, olives, etc.) are available.
According to organizer Mirco Meinel, the idea came from conversations with the audience. Some guests come for a company Christmas party and would like to see the show again later with their family—but a full dinner-and-show evening for the whole family isn’t exactly a bargain. Others are primarily interested in variety shows and music, while still others simply don’t want a large, substantial meal so late in the evening. That’s why the previous all-inclusive package is being replaced by a modular system: a show with a four-course meal or a show without a meal. The classic option will, of course, remain available and continues to start at 99.90 euros. The “Show Only” ticket is available through October 31 at the early-bird price of 49.90 euros, and thereafter for 59.90 euros.
