The handball team ThSV Eisenach suffered its fifth defeat of the season. The Thuringians lost their game at TSV Hannover-Burgdorf on Saturday by 30:32 (14:17) and so had to let the club from Lower Saxony slip past them in the table. Marius Steinhauser (13/6), Leif Tissier and Vilhelm Poulsen (7 each) played the biggest part in the home side's success. Oskar Joellsen (8) and Felix Aellen (6/3) scored the most goals for the visitors.
The club from Eisenach got off to a good start to the game, leading 9:7 after 14 minutes, but were repeatedly thwarted by German international goalkeeper Joel Birlehm at the end of the first half, who saved 13 of the Thuringians' shots.
The club from Lower Saxony turned the tide with a 6:1 run to make it 13:10 in the 24th minute and had decided the game at 30:23 nine minutes before the final whistle. Eisenach was only able to make up some ground.
