Second division soccer team 1. FC Magdeburg did not get past 1:1 (0:0) in a test match at third division club FC Erzgebirge Aue. Both coaches used the closed-door encounter to try out a number of tactical measures and gave many players a chance over the course of the 90 minutes. Florian Guttau (48th minute) put Aue ahead, while Maximilian Breunig (58th), who only arrived in Magdeburg on the last day of the transfer period, equalized.
In the first half, chances were in short supply despite Magdeburg's slight superiority. Aue's Jannic Ehlers (14th) put the ball over the goal after a strong solo run, while Dariusz Stallmach (15th) failed to score against Louis Lord, who reacted well.
After numerous changes during the break, the game picked up pace. Auer's lead after some confusion in the Magdeburg penalty area also contributed to the revival. The visitors now showed their class in combination play, which also led to Breunig's debut goal. There were chances on both sides after that, with the FCM goalscorer a constant source of trouble.
