After just four months, former Champions League winner Tarnat's third division mission at Aue is over. The sporting director is stepping down.

After the 3:5 home debacle against TSG Hoffenheim II, third-division soccer club FC Erzgebirge Aue has dismissed winless head coach Christoph Dabrowski. Sporting director Michael Tarnat, who was appointed on January 1, took responsibility for the coach's appointment at the beginning of February and also resigned from his position at the same time on Easter Sunday due to differences of opinion regarding the club's sporting direction.

"I very much regret leaving Erzgebirge with this disappointing outcome to my tenure and wish the Kumpelverein all the best," said former international and former Champions League winner Tarnat in a statement from the club. In addition to Dabrowski, who picked up just two points from nine games, assistant coach Lars Fuchs must also leave.

Aue now rely on a coaching team from their own ranks

According to the club, a coaching team from their own ranks is preparing the team for the next games. Head of youth development Chwitscha Schubitidse and Enrico Kern will take on this task together. From now on, the new head scout Steffen Ziffert will be responsible for squad planning together with sports director Jens Haustein and Schubitidse. "The measures that have now been introduced should set the course for a turnaround," said sporting director Jens Haustein.
