Reconciliation on the last home matchday: Aue annoys Duisburg

FC Erzgebirge Aue put a damper on MSV Duisburg's promotion ambitions. The already relegated Saxons snatched a point from the Zebras with a 0-0 draw and bid farewell to the 3rd division with a strong home performance from 10,334 spectators.

As expected, promotion candidates Duisburg sought their salvation on the offensive from the outset. However, they came up against an opponent who defended very creatively. Aue pushed forward strongly, were aggressive and uncompromising in tackles and had a strong goalkeeper in Louis Lord.

He made two very quick saves from Thilo Töpken (38th and 42nd minute). In contrast, the hosts were rarely present in attack. A shot by Marcel Bär (9th minute) was flagged offside and a shot by Florian Guttau (21st minute) was saved by MSV goalkeeper Maximilian Braune.

In the second half, it was a match of equals. Both sides gave nothing away, the action ebbed and flowed and Aue became more and more involved in the attacking spectacle. Both teams were also equal in defense. The Erzgebirge team threw themselves into every ball. Anything that got through was a prey for Lord. At the other end, it was Braune who saved his MSV a point in the closing stages. So it remained a fair draw.
