Head coach Marco Rose starts against 1. FC Köln with Timo Werner. The RB Leipzig striker, who has not been considered for the DFB squad recently, was given preference over Yussuf Poulsen on Saturday evening. It is only Werner's second starting appearance in this Bundesliga season. He was last allowed to start at the season opener at Bayer Leverkusen on Aug. 19.
Rose does without the quite large rotation, brought only in the defense additionally Lukas Klostermann from the beginning. However, he switched from four to three-man chain, so that the outsiders can act more offensively. Emil Forsberg had to make way for him in the offense. For Kevin Kampl started in the defensive midfield Amadou Haidara.
