For Tottenham coach Ange Postecoglou, Timo Werner's first and less successful outing in the Premier League has no great significance. The attacker, who Spurs have loaned out from Bundesliga club RB Leipzig for the rest of the season, is now "a different player", Postecoglou said on Friday.
Werner moved from RB to Chelsea FC in the summer of 2020, but failed to impress at the former Champions League winners and Spurs' city rivals. After two years, the now 27-year-old center forward returned to Leipzig.
What happened in the past is not relevant, Postecoglou emphasized at a press conference: "I look at what he can give us now, not what happened three or four years ago."
Werner is certainly a different person now. "We are all developing," emphasized the 58-year-old Australian of Greek origin.
