Bundesliga handball club ThSV Eisenach is losing its international Marko Grgic to league rivals SG Flensburg-Handewitt with immediate effect. Both clubs and the top scorer of the last Bundesliga season agreed on this. The 21-year-old was originally not due to move until the 2026/27 season.
"It's no secret that we didn't want to let Marko go this summer," said ThSV managing director René Witte in a club statement. "He sought talks with us and urgently expressed his wish to join the SG Flensburg-Handewitt now. Although we were reluctant to enter into negotiations with the SG, we were motivated to find a solution that would satisfy all sides." The terms of the transfer remain confidential.
Grgic matures into an international player in Eisenach
Eisenach must now tackle the goal of remaining in the Bundesliga without its top scorer, who was the top scorer in the Bundesliga last season with 301 goals. The powerful left-back, who moved from HG Saarlouis to Eisenach in 2022, matured into a national player in Thuringia, made his international debut in May 2024 and won the Olympic silver medal with the DHB team in Paris in the same year. He has since played 23 international matches for Germany, scoring 61 goals.
