Following the shakeup this summer, the Thuringian women's handball team is showing good early-season form as the Bundesliga season kicks off. They secured a dominant victory against Buxtehuder SV.

The Thüringer HC women’s handball team got off to a successful start in the new Bundesliga season. Coach Herbert Müller’s team celebrated a comfortable 34–27 (15–10) home victory over Buxtehuder SV. Levke Kretschmann, who had only joined the THC from Buxtehude this past summer, was the top scorer with seven goals in front of 1,346 spectators.

The Thuringian team needed hardly any time to get going and generated a lot of scoring power, particularly from the backcourt. With goalkeeper Laura Kuske also immediately on her game, the hosts quickly pulled ahead to 12–6 (17th minute). By halftime, however, their finishing efficiency had dropped significantly. The THC missed four consecutive seven-meter throws.

In the second half, the pace picked up considerably again. The Thuringian team remained in control throughout the match and at one point extended their lead to ten goals (34:24).
