The Thuringian Bundesliga handball players remain in the race for the championship. A strong fighting performance brings victory in the second semi-final against Blomberg.

The Bundesliga handball club Thüringer HC has kept its chances of reaching the playoff final alive. The team of Head Coach Herbert Müller defeated HSG Blomberg-Lippe 29:28 (14:15) in the second semi-final game on Sunday evening to level the best-of-three series at 1:1.

The decisive third game will be played in Blomberg next Saturday (5 p.m.). In front of 1,316 spectators, Johanna Reichert was the THC's best scorer with eleven goals, while national player Nieke Kühne scored five times for Blomberg.

The club from Thuringia started the game with great pace and benefited in particular from the wealth of ideas of its director Natsuki Aizawa in attack. However, the THC suffered a few lapses in concentration midway through the first half. Blomberg punished that coldly and pulled 12:8 ahead in the 18th minute. The home side then stepped up the intensity in defense considerably. As goalkeeper Laura Kuske also got into the game better and better, the THC turned the deficit into a 19:17 lead by the 36th minute.

The momentum changed several times in the final phase. The club from Thuringia led 28:26 with four-and-a-half minutes remaining, but then had to concede the equalizer before Lotta Heider made it 29:28 (59'). Kuske secured victory for the THC with an outstanding save with 40 seconds remaining.
