On their fourth attempt, the ThSV Eisenach handball team secured their first victory of this Bundesliga season. Coach Sebastian Hinze’s team defeated newly promoted SG BBM Bietigheim 31–25 (14–14) in front of a home crowd. In front of 2,348 spectators, Felix Aellen stood out as ThSV’s top scorer with twelve goals; the team now has 3 points out of 5. Eisenach got off to a shaky start and quickly fell behind 2–5. They subsequently attacked Bietigheim’s defensive center more consistently. Thanks in part to six penalty throws, the hosts managed to tie the score by halftime. In the second half, Eisenach also stepped up their play and pulled ahead 24–19 by the 45th minute. Although Bietigheim didn’t give up, the hosts maintained control and were able to rely time and again on their strong goalkeeper Matija Spikic (15 saves). Copyright 2026, dpa (www.dpa.de).
