The women's handball club Thüringer HC has celebrated its eighth away win of the Bundesliga season. The team of Head Coach Herbert Müller prevailed 32:28 (13:11) at Buxtehuder SV on Sunday afternoon to recapture fourth place with 31:9 points, which would guarantee a starting berth in the European League next season. In front of 1064 spectators, Johanna Reichert was THC's best scorer with nine goals.
The Thuringians found it difficult to get into the game against the ninth-placed club in the table because their attacking moves initially lacked pace and creativity. Although the home side did not play at its top level either, it deserved to lead 7:5 after 18 minutes. THC then did a better job of opening up the court. With a 6:1 run, it turned a 7:9 deficit (21st minute) into a 13:10 lead shortly before the break.
The visitors failed to extend their lead further in the second half, as they were repeatedly thwarted by substitute BSV goalkeeper Laura Kuske, who had played for THC from 2017 to 2013. Buxtehude regained courage and equalized with three goals in succession to make it 18:18 in the 42nd minute. The game remained on a knife's edge up to 22:22 (48'), before the Thuringians stepped up the pace again significantly. Reichert in particular took on the responsibility.
