League leaders SC Magdeburg conceded their second point of the league season in their last home game of the year. The score was 26:26 (13:13) against THW Kiel in front of 6,600 spectators. Magdeburg's best scorers were Lukas Mertens and Gisli Kristjansson with six goals each. It was Magdeburg's first draw after 23 wins in a row in all competitions.
Before the game, Magdeburg announced the extension of Daniel Pettersson's contract. The Swede will play another year for the club and form the right-back duo with new signing Oskar Vind in the new season. Pettersson has been playing for SCM since 2016 and has now committed to the Green-Red until 2027.
"Daniel is a player who is good for any team. You can rely on him athletically - and as a person anyway," said SCM coach Bennet Wiegert on the extension, while Pettersson emphasized: "Our fans are unique and always there for us. I'm looking forward to continuing to chase the title with this fantastic team."
