Winning streak snaps: Draw between Magdeburg and Kiel

The visitors had to do without Elias Ellefsen a Skipagotu, who remained in Kiel with a shoulder injury, in the catch-up game on matchday six. Magdeburg therefore had to adapt to THW's changed attacking play, but had problems in offense despite taking the lead (4:3/10th). The SCM repeatedly failed to extend its lead and was thwarted several times by Andreas Wolff in the visitors' goal, which Kiel exploited to turn the game around (7:8/18). The encounter remained tight up to the break, meaning the tie was the logical result.

After the restart, SCM missed its first two attacks and Kiel briefly led by two goals (13:15/33). This was followed by a 7:1 run by Magdeburg, which put the home side three goals in front for the first time (20:16/41st). However, Kiel recovered and equalized once more (20:20/46). Neither team was able to maintain control of the game for any length of time. Sergey Hernandez made a save in the final minute, but Kiel capitalized on the rebound to equalize - and Magdeburg failed to score in the remaining two seconds.
