The handball players of SC DHfK Leipzig have created planning security for the next season, regardless of the sporting situation. As the Bundesliga club announced, the contract of right winger Lucas Krzikalla, which expires at the end of the season, will not be extended. The 32-year-old has played for the Saxons since 2010.
Krzikalla is the third player to leave the club this summer after Domenico Ebner and Ahmed Khairi. "It's important for our club and for Lucas to have clarity now and to focus fully on the tasks ahead. We have also signaled to Lucas that he will always have a place in our club after his active career if he wants to," said managing director Karsten Günther.
Goalkeeper Tomáš Mrkva, center Moritz Preuss and right winger Staffan Peter, on the other hand, will remain with Leipzig even in the event of relegation. So far, the trio only had a valid contract for the Bundesliga. Coach Frank Carstens' team is currently bottom of the table.
