RB Leipzig is almost completely overhauling its offense. With Harder now on loan, the way is clear for a Spanish player. The young forward once scored a sensational goal for Barcelona.

RB Leipzig is bolstering its offense with Spanish player Marc Guiu. Following the loan signing of Conrad Harder and the return of Christopher Nkunku, Nkunku’s former Chelsea teammate is now also heading to Saxony. The 20-year-old center forward has been permanently signed from Chelsea FC and has signed a contract with RB Leipzig through June 30, 2031.

According to reports, the two clubs agreed on a transfer fee of 17 million euros. The London-based Premier League club, which still had the right-footed player under contract through the summer of 2029, is reportedly set to receive a share of any future transfer fee.

“With his intensity, high pace, and incredible work ethic, Marc is a great fit for our RB DNA. He brings tremendous energy, especially when defending, but is also a presence in the penalty area and has a clear instinct for goal. Despite being only 20 years old, he has already played at the highest level and in the Champions League,” said sporting director Marcel Schäfer.

Winning goal for Barcelona against Bilbao

Guiu was trained at Barcelona’s famous La Masia soccer academy and also played for Spain’s youth national teams. On October 22, 2023, Guiu made his debut for FC Barcelona at the age of 17. After coming on as a substitute in the 79th minute, he scored the 1-0 winning goal against Athletic Bilbao just 23 seconds later with his second touch of the ball. At 17 years and 291 days, he was the youngest player in Barça history to score on his professional debut. Three days later, he made his Champions League debut against Shakhtar Donetsk, RB’s opponent in the group stage.

In the summer of 2024, he transferred to Chelsea FC, where he also played alongside Nkunku. In two seasons with the Blues, Guiu appeared in 29 competitive matches and scored eight goals. With Chelsea, he won the Conference League and the Club World Cup.
