Viola Odebrecht has led the RB Leipzig women's soccer team from the 3rd division to the top league. Her contract as head of women's and girls' soccer has now been extended.

Viola Odebrecht has extended her contract with RB Leipzig ahead of schedule. The 43-year-old will remain Head of Women's and Girls' Football at the Saxon Bundesliga club until 2030. The previous contract would have expired in the summer of 2027.

"Women's soccer is a fast-growing, dynamic market. This makes it all the more important to manage this area with great expertise and a strategic view. Viola brings with her the necessary experience, a large network and a clear signature that have already had a decisive influence on the development at RB Leipzig in recent years," said Managing Director Marcel Schäfer, explaining the appointment.

In office since 2019

Odebrecht has been in a managerial role at RB since 2019 and has led the women's team from the third-tier Regionalliga to the Bundesliga during this time. Leipzig are in tenth place ahead of their penultimate game of the season this evening against Bayer Leverkusen.

"I feel a great deal of appreciation at the club and the commitment of the management to our common goals," the 2003 world champion was quoted as saying in an RB press release. "In the meantime, we have established ourselves in the Bundesliga - but what we started when I started in 2019 is not yet finished," she said.
