The RB Leipzig women's soccer team shook off the frustration of the past few weeks. Coach Jonas Stephan’s team defeated the newly promoted 1. FSV Mainz 05—which remains winless—5-0 (0-0) and climbed to ninth place in the Bundesliga standings with 7 points out of a possible 11. The goals for RB were scored by Delice Boboy (47th minute), Alieke Tuin (52nd), Annabel Schasching (52nd and 83rd—penalty kick), and Sara Pusztai (90th). The first-ever meeting between the two teams mirrored the season so far in the opening quarter-hour: little conviction, little offensive firepower. Yet Mainz, sitting at the bottom of the table, came out with a lot of momentum, having recorded their first competitive win of the season (6–1 against Ingolstadt) in the cup. The Leipzig women, who had also advanced in the cup (2–0 in Marburg) and had celebrated their first Bundesliga victory only on Matchday 4 with a 2–1 win over 1. FC Nürnberg, then began to dictate the play somewhat. The deadlock was finally broken in the second half, when the victory became even more decisive. Copyright 2026, dpa (www.dpa.de).
