The RB Leipzig women's soccer team suffered a heavy defeat at champions FC Bayern. The promoted team from Saxony lost 0:5 (0:3) at the league leaders on Saturday. Pernille Harder had put the Munich side ahead after just 110 seconds before Lea Schüller (4th/19th minute) added a brace. After the changeover, Harder (64) and Linda Dallmann (90+2) increased the score further. With the win, FC Bayern are now four points ahead of their closest rivals VfL Wolfsburg. Leipzig remain in tenth place, but suffered another heavy blow after the 4-0 defeat in Wolfsburg.
The hosts' first attack was successful. Harder (2) ran alone towards the RB goal and scored from close range to take the lead. Jovana Damnjanovic then broke through on the right and crossed low to the penalty spot, where Schüller was able to slot home unchallenged. RB keeper Elvira Herzog was still there, but was unable to stop the shot into the right corner.
Leipzig then had a double chance: first Mimmi Larsson missed (13'), then Sandra Starke missed (14'). The defending champions were more efficient: When Herzog let a durable ball from Giulia Gwinn bounce, Schüller was there to score and make it 3:0. RB then made the game more even, although the hosts shifted down a gear and made lively changes. Harder then took the first real chance of the second half to make it 4-0 (64') before Dallmann scored in stoppage time.
