Two new signings and several players returning from loan will be part of RB Leipzig’s season opener this Monday under new head coach Martín Demichelis. In addition to new signings Abdoul Koné and Rocco Reitz, Brajan Gruda—who is set to be loaned again from Brighton and Hove Albion with a new mandatory buyout clause—is also expected to arrive shortly. However, following the surprise departure of former coach Ole Werner, many questions remain unanswered ahead of the public training kickoff.
For instance, the future of the two French players, Castello Lukeba and El Chadaille Bitshiabu, remains uncertain. One of the two center backs is definitely set to be sold. RB is reportedly close to signing center back Maxime Esteve. The World Cup players led by star forward Yan Diomande—who, according to sporting director Marcel Schäfer, is expected to stay for another season—are not expected to arrive at Cottaweg until the end of July. Antonio Nusa is not expected to return until early August following Norway’s elimination by England.
