RB Leipzig loans Conrad Harder to a club in France

Bundesliga club RB Leipzig has found a new home for striker Conrad Harder. According to the club, the Danish forward is moving on loan to French first-division club Racing Strasbourg. According to dpa, the deal does not include a purchase option. 

“For Conrad, at this stage of his development, the main priority is to get regular playing time and accumulate as many minutes as possible at a high level. Strasbourg offers him excellent conditions for this with a young, ambitious team and a modern, attacking style,” said sporting director Marcel Schäfer. 

High Expectations Not Yet Met

The 21-year-old Harder failed to make the starting lineup under new coach Martín Demichelis, despite Romulo’s absence. He had been signed the previous year as RB’s marquee signing for around 24 million euros from Sporting Lisbon. However, the forward has not yet been able to live up to the high expectations in Leipzig.

Although he appeared in 34 games, he scored only four goals. Furthermore, his playing style doesn’t really fit into Leipzig’s system. He scored his most recent goal in an RB jersey after coming off the bench in the 6-0 victory over Eintracht Trier in the first round of the DFB Cup.
