Rioting: Hansa Rostock fined 135,000 euros

The match between Hansa Rostock and Dynamo Dresden was overshadowed by rioting. The Rostock team will now receive their punishment, the Saxons will have to wait a little longer.

The rioting by some of its supporters will cost the third division soccer club Hansa Rostock dearly. The sports court of the German Football Association (DFB) sentenced the club to a fine of 135,000 euros for the violent incidents at the Mecklenburg club's point match against Dynamo Dresden.

According to the ruling, FC Hansa can use 45,000 euros of this for its own security or preventative measures. These must be submitted to the DFB by December 31, 2025.

In addition, two third-division home matches must be played next season "under partial exclusion of the public". However, this penalty was suspended for one year on probation.

Spectator exclusion on probation

If incidents occur again during the probation period, the DFB has already determined which areas will be banned. A surcharge on ticket prices to compensate for loss of revenue would not be permitted.

Before the match, Rostock spectators had already fired a rocket onto the pitch, which landed between the Dresden players. In addition, at least 83 smoke devices were set off shortly before kick-off. Towards the end of the half-time break, Dresden supporters destroyed two security panes.

The Rostock and Dresden fans shot at each other with so-called signal pin ammunition, rockets and signal ammunition. The match had to be interrupted for 27 minutes.

The DFB control committee is investigating Dynamo Dresden for the events at the Ostseestadion. A verdict will be announced later.
