Dynamo Dresden, at the bottom of the league, pulled off a breakthrough victory against the Franconians. The match was particularly bitter for Fürth’s center back, Blank.

It doesn't get much more bitter than this for Fürth's Hendry Blank. In the 0-3 (0-2) loss to Dynamo Dresden in the 2nd Bundesliga, the SpVgg Greuther Fürth center back unluckily deflected the first two goals into his own net. He was then sent off early after receiving a yellow-red card. Robert Wagner (31st minute) put Dresden—previously at the bottom of the table—ahead in front of 30,786 spectators at Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion, before Ben Bobzien (41st) extended the lead before halftime. Vincent Vermeij (55th minute) sealed the final score.

Fürth got off to a flying start

The match had actually started promisingly for the visitors. Omar Sillah (16th minute) made his presence felt early on when he dribbled past two Dresden defenders in the penalty area and forced goalkeeper Lennart Grill into a save from a tight angle. Shortly afterward, Dynamo goalkeeper Grill prevented the visitors from falling behind with saves against Felix Klaus (22') and Sacha Bansé (24').

Former Fürth player Wagner then scored the opening goal for Dynamo when he found the net with a deflected shot in the penalty area following a brilliant assist from Niklas Hauptmann. Then Blank again deflected a shot by the home team into his own net, this time from Bobzien (41').

Yellow card for unlucky Blank

After the break, Vermeij (55') scored the 3-0 goal; this time, Blank was a fraction of a second too late, slipped past the ball, and the Dresden player pushed the ball over the line behind him. Then things got even worse for the Franconians, especially for Blank, who received a yellow card after a last-ditch tackle on Bobzien (62').
