Despite a valiant effort, the Niners Chemnitz basketball team suffered its first home loss of this Bundesliga season. Coach Rodrigo Pastore’s team lost a close game to league-leading FC Bayern Munich, 83–87 (50–45). Mateo Seric led the Saxons in scoring with 21 points; the team sits in 16th place with a 2–8 record. The Chemnitz team started the game with a lot of energy and, after an 8–2 run, pulled ahead more decisively for the first time to 21–13 (9th minute). In the second quarter, Munich initially did a better job of capitalizing on their physical advantages, but Chemnitz fought back passionately and remained ahead at halftime. As the third quarter progressed, however, the hosts began to make more mistakes under the defensive pressure from the league leaders. With a 7–0 run, Munich took a 61–52 lead (25th minute). Although Chemnitz fought their way back time and again in the final quarter, the visitors always had the right answer in the decisive moments and ultimately earned a well-deserved victory.
