The Niners Chemnitz basketball team had to concede a 1:1 draw in the playoff semi-final. The club from Saxony clearly lost the second encounter in the best-of-five series at Alba Berlin by 64:86 (40:48) on Friday evening. Louis Olinde (13), Martin Hermansson (11), Tim Schneider (11) and Justin Bean (10) played the biggest part in the home side's success. Kevin Yebo (13), Wesley van Beck (12), Jonas Richter and Jeff Garrett (11 each) scored the most points for the Saxons. The third game will kick off in Chemnitz on Sunday (5 p.m./Dyn).
The visitors missed the opening spell and trailed by 6:17 after six minutes. The Niners fought their way back to 28:34 (14th) in the second quarter and remained within striking distance until 45:50 (23rd). However, Berlin produced an 11:1 run to make it 61:46 in the 27th minute to decide the encounter in its favor early on.
Chemnitz was no longer able to turn the game around, above all due to its poor shooting percentage. Only 35 percent of its shots landed in the opposing side's basket. The home side was also in command under the boards, grabbing 50 rebounds compared to just 32 for the visitors.
