The Niners Chemnitz basketball team have recovered well from their 59:105 defeat in the Champions League at Spanish first-division club Manresa. The club from Saxony defeated BG Göttingen by a commanding 96:88 (49:41) on Sunday. Aher Uguak (25), Victor Bailey Jr. (20), Olivier Nkamhoua (13) and William Christmas (11) played the biggest part in Saxony's fourth win in a row in the German Basketball League. Kostja Mushidi (24), Zachary Ensminger (13), Demajeo Wiggins, Jarred Godfrey (12 each) and Jimmy Boeheim (10) scored the most points for Göttingen.
The home side got off to a classic false start and trailed 6:13 after five minutes. The Niners then fought their way into a 36:29 lead (14th minute), but then briefly wobbled again. The club from Lower Saxony was able to cut the deficit to 41:42 in the 19th minute. Chemnitz produced a 10:3 run to pull 54:44 ahead in the 23rd minute and had finally settled the scores at 72:53 four minutes later. The Niners benefited first and foremost from their better three-point field goal percentage (10 successful shots out of 27 attempts) and their nerves of steel in the free throw department (20 out of 24). Göttingen was only able to convert eight of its 29 long-range shots and 12 of its 20 free throws.
