The Niners Chemnitz basketball team has recorded its eighth home win of the German league season. The team of Head Coach Rodrigo Pastore defeated EWE Baskets Oldenburg by 95:85 (53:35) in front of a home crowd to consolidate tenth place with 24:26 points. This entitles them to take part in the play-in games after the main round. Amadou Sow was the Niners' best scorer with 24 points.
Both teams initially gave the impression of being in a hurry, before the strong Kevin Yebo got Chemnitz's offense going at the start of the second quarter with eight points in the space of 65 seconds. The home side now stepped up its shooting percentage from the three-point line and was far more physical under the baskets than Oldenburg. With a 13:0 run, the Niners pulled away to 49:30 (18th minute).
After the break, the Saxons lost concentration in defense. Oldenburg's build-up player Christopher Clemons in particular now took the initiative and led his team ever closer. Chemnitz's lead shrank to five points midway through the final quarter (81:76). However, the Niners put a stop to the trembling with an 8:0 run to make it 89:78 and won without danger in the end.
