Marco Rose praises quick intervention by RB Leipzig youth players after racism scandal

After the racism scandal involving RB Leipzig's youth team, head coach Marco Rose has praised the quick intervention of the youth players. "A big compliment to the boys, because this issue was clarified in the dressing room. Someone there stood up and said, that's not on. The club then drew the necessary and correct consequences," said Rose on Friday.

Leipzig had kicked out two U19 players on Thursday who had made disparaging remarks about a teammate's skin color. Rose contradicted a media report claiming that the victim of the insults was El Chadaille Bitshiabu. "It wasn't about Chad, but that doesn't matter in the end. If it doesn't affect him, it will affect someone else. We have to be uncompromising," said Rose.

The 47-year-old made it clear once again that the two released players will have no future at RB. He also advocated that the duo should learn from their mistake. "Of course, we are happy to provide advice to develop knowledge, to develop a feeling for what they actually said and did in order to do better in the future," said Rose.

The coach drew a parallel to the many demonstrations against right-wing extremism that are currently taking place in Germany. "We're taking to the streets, fighting against it and I think it's right and important that we keep at it," said Rose. Last week, he had already called on people to take a stand against right-wing extremist movements in Germany.
