RB Leipzig's women's footballers have been eliminated in the last 16 of the DFB Cup. Werder Bremen only won 5:4 in a penalty shoot-out. The score was 1:1 (1:1) after regular time and extra time. Marlene Müller had put the hosts ahead after just seven minutes. Juliane Wirtz equalized with a volley in the second minute of stoppage time in the first half. In the penalty shoot-out, Persis Oteng, Leipzig's sixth shooter, lost her nerve and missed in front of 1473 spectators.
Bremen started very offensively and had a huge chance through Maja Sternad (2nd). Her header narrowly missed the RB women's goal. After Leipzig took the lead, which Lisa Baum had set up with a dribble, the Saxons were the better team for just under half an hour and had the chance to make it 2-0 through Delice Boboy (26), but Mariella El Sherif in the Werder goal made a brilliant save. The equalizer came as a surprise as it was Bremen's first shot on goal following a corner kick.
