The handball Bundesliga club announces its third new signing. After two years with Swedish first division club Kristianstad, Gruber has signed a two-year contract with SV Union.

The handball players of SV Union Halle-Neustadt have announced their third new signing for the coming season. Lea Gruber is returning to the Bundesliga club. The 27-year-old backcourt player has signed a two-year contract for both the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga. The club made the announcement on Friday. Tina Wagenlader (Füchse Berlin) and the Austrian Viktoria Marksteiner (SC Ferlach) had previously signed a contract with SV Union.

Gruber already played for the first-division club from 2019 to 2022 and was under contract with Swedish first-division club Kristianstad HK for the past two years. In the current season, the right-hander has scored 60 goals in 19 games.

"Gruber is a great personality. She has a lot of experience and can defend excellently both in the center block and at the half position. She will be one of the leading players in our young team and set an example with her attitude," said coach Till Wiechers.
