Two weeks ago, sporting director Otmar Schork had to leave 1. FC Magdeburg. At least the partial position of sports director has now been filled.

Second division soccer club 1. FC Magdeburg has a new sports director. One week after parting ways with sporting director Otmar Schork, the club presented a successor in Peer Jaekel. The currently vacant position of sporting director will be decided at a later date.

"Peer Jaekel has already proven that he is capable of structuring and developing an ambitious squad that is capable of development. He brings both the professional expertise and the necessary recognition as a former player and proven expert in the soccer industry," said FCM President Jörg Biastoch.

"Our clear focus is now on staying in the league and providing the
team with the best possible support in the final spurt of the season. At the same time, we want to set the course early for the squad planning for the coming season," said Jaekel.
