RB Leipzig have not yet given up hope of signing Cesc Fabregas as their new coach. According to information from "Bild" and "Sportbild", Jürgen Klopp has also been involved in talks with the Spaniard, who is under contract with Italian first division club Como. The global head of soccer at the Red Bull Group is said to have met with Fabregas and sought talks with him.
Unlike at Bayer Leverkusen, the 38-year-old coach has not yet turned RB down. However, he is said to be in talks with Como about extending his contract. Fabregas is also a shareholder at his current club.
Glasner remains the next preferred candidate
If the Spaniard turns Leipzig down, Oliver Glasner is the next preferred candidate, according to the media. The Austrian has just led Crystal Palace to FA Cup victory in England.
RB parted company with Marco Rose at the end of March. But even interim coach Zsolt Löw was unable to save the season for the Saxons. Seventh place meant missing out on an international starting place for the first time in RB's Bundesliga history. Löw now returns to Klopp's side in the global strategy team.
