Despite a good first half, ThSV Eisenach lacked the final consistency. The team from Wartburg lost for the second time this week.

ThSV Eisenach suffered its second defeat in a row and once again missed out on important points in the relegation battle. The Bundesliga handball club lost 24:26 (14:15) against VfL Gummersbach in the Werner-Aßmann-Halle at home. The league's top scorer, Manuel Zehnder, was once again the best scorer with ten goals in front of 2794 spectators. Milos Vujovic was shown a red card.

Eisenach was the dominant team throughout the first half and repeatedly took the lead by two or three goals, but did not manage to break away from Gummersbach. It was not until the 29th minute that Gummersbach took the lead for the first time and was able to take this small advantage into the break.

The visitors from Gummersbach then came out of the break much stronger and took a three-goal lead in the 36th minute. However, Milos Vujovic had to leave the court in the 39th minute due to a red card, which enabled the club from Wartburg to close the gap to 19:20. One particular factor in VfL's play in the second half was goalkeeper Daniel Rebmann, who saved almost every second ball. That and a slightly better shooting percentage enabled Gummersbach to secure victory.
