Dynamo Dresden captain Stefan Kutschke has been massively threatened, according to the third-division soccer club. In an anonymous letter, the 35-year-old and his family were "extremely hostile and also confronted with warnings including murder", as the club announced on Friday. The club has filed a complaint with the police.
"As a sports community, we are always open to criticism. However, certain boundaries must be observed. These were clearly exceeded in the case of Stefan Kutschke," explained Managing Director Communications David Fischer. "We condemn such actions in the strongest possible terms and will react to them with the utmost severity," emphasized Fischer.
The club also pointed out that the team captain has been subject to "clear hostility" for some time, particularly on social media. This is in clear contrast to the "elemental force of the sports community in cohesion" anchored in the mission statement, the statement continued.
