The Thüringer HC women’s handball team suffered its first loss of points in the Bundesliga. In Wednesday evening’s top-of-the-table matchup against HSG Blomberg-Lippe, however, coach Herbert Müller’s team managed to secure a 30:30 (14:17) draw after a strong second half. In front of 1,500 spectators, Levke Kretschmann was the THC’s top scorer with eight goals; the team had prevailed 34–31 against the German champions just one week earlier in the Cup round of 16. The Thuringian women started the game confidently. After an early 4–2 lead (5th minute), however, they completely lost their rhythm and scored only one goal in the following ten minutes. Blomberg capitalized on the THC’s slump to take the lead. In a disjointed match marked by numerous technical errors, the visitors continued to appear more stable and led by three goals at halftime. After the break, the home team picked up the pace and, with a 6–2 run, took a 20–19 lead (39th minute). Blomberg, however, remained unfazed and came closer to victory in the closing minutes. The THC fought passionately and tied the game 34 seconds before the end thanks to a goal by Teresa von Prittwitz. At the other end, goalkeeper Laura Kuske stopped the final shot by national team player Nieke Kühne. Copyright 2026, dpa (www.dpa.de). All rights reserved
