More than three months after Dresden's last DEL game, the Saxons' relegation is now officially sealed. The last glimmer of hope faded with the licensing of the DEL clubs.

More than three months after the end of the regular season, the Dresden Eislöwen’s relegation from the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) is now official. Since all clubs that qualified on merit will receive a license for the upcoming season, Dresden—which finished last in the regular season—must return to the DEL2. The Saxon team had been promoted to the DEL for the first time just one year earlier.

The DEL had already confirmed the return of promoted team Krefeld Pinguine. Now, the remaining 13 clubs have also received financial approval for the upcoming season, which begins in September. The schedule is set to be released this Friday.
