With his first brace in the 2nd Bundesliga, Niklas Hauptmann paved the way for his team to pick up another point. In the 3:3 (3:1) draw at Karlsruher SC, the captain netted twice in the first half (3rd, 44th). In between, Ben Bobzien (28) scored his first Dynamo goal. But it wasn't enough as Karlsruhe held out thanks to two penalties from Marvin Wanitzek (23rd, 90th +3) and a goal from Louey Ben Farhat (68th). Thirteenth place reads well, but is anything but a cushion. Greuther Fürth, in the relegation place, have 26 points, as do Dynamo.
"After the first half, it's two points lost. We no longer had the courage to play soccer. There were too many long balls, no more transfers. We didn't win any headers or second balls in defense," said a disappointed Dynamo coach Thomas Stamm on the Sky microphone. Jason Ceka also spoke of what felt like a defeat, but also noted: "In our situation, every point is important. But we should have played like we did in the first half."
Stamm had only made one forced change to his team, which had been so successful in recent weeks. Ceka returned to the starting eleven in place of the suspended Jakob Lemmer and was extremely confident. Before KSC even had the ball in the Dynamo half, it was already 1-0.
