Demichelis to Make His Bundesliga Coaching Debut Against Gladbach

Martín Demichelis can’t hide his excitement about his Bundesliga debut. “It’s a great honor for me to be the coach of RB Leipzig. I’m very happy to be the first Argentine to start a season as a coach. We’ve worked hard for seven weeks now and prepared well for this game,” said the new head coach ahead of the Bundesliga opener this Saturday (3:30 p.m./Sky and RTL) against Borussia Mönchengladbach. 

Unlike he did before the DFB Cup match, he doesn’t want to reveal his starting lineup—not even the players know it yet. It’s also unclear whether returnee Christopher Nkunku will start or only play a substitute role. “We don’t need to talk about his qualities. He’s ready and has no issues,” said Demichelis, who will continue to be without Christopher Baumgartner, Assan Ouédraogo, Romulo, and backup goalkeeper Orjan Nyland.
