After Dresden scandal: DFB announces investigation proceedings

The fan riots at the match between Dynamo Dresden and Hertha BSC also concern the German Football Association (DFB). "We can confirm that the DFB Control Committee will initiate investigation proceedings against both clubs at the beginning of the new week following the incidents at the second division match between Dynamo Dresden and Hertha BSC," the association announced on request.

In a first step, both clubs will be asked to comment in writing, the DFB said. Pyrotechnics were initially set off in both fan camps at the match on Saturday evening. Fans from both teams then climbed over the fences. Dresden supporters ran along the pitch to the Hertha fan block wearing masks. Pyrotechnics were shot back and forth.

Pitch storm and game interruption

Referee Sven Jablonski had to interrupt the match and sent the teams to the dressing room. Police officers tried to force the Dynamo supporters back into their block. A Hertha flag was then burnt down there. In view of various offenses in the past, Dresden and Hertha may have to expect severe penalties from the association courts.

Dresden police announced that they had opened more than a dozen investigations. The fans are being investigated on suspicion of breach of the peace, grievous bodily harm, damage to property, insult and ticket fraud.
