Reports: Real Madrid Makes an Offer to Leipzig for Diomande

According to media reports, Real Madrid has entered the race to sign RB Leipzig's rising star Yan Diomande with a massive offer. According to “The Athletic” and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the top Spanish club has submitted an initial offer for the Ivorian World Cup participant. The offer, worth 90 million euros plus 10 million euros in bonus payments, was reportedly rejected by the Saxon club. However, talks are continuing.

In the past, Leipzig had already rejected a similarly high offer from Liverpool FC. According to “Bild,” the two-time DFB Cup champion aims to secure at least 120 million euros for Diomande. The 19-year-old joined Leipzig a year ago for 20 million euros from CD Leganés, which had been relegated from Spain’s top division, and has publicly expressed his desire to move again.

Diomande Speaks Clearly

Diomande is reportedly already in agreement with Paris Saint-Germain. The Champions League winner has apparently negotiated a contract through 2031 with the forward’s representatives. However, the French club has not yet reached an agreement with Leipzig.

Furthermore, RB representatives have repeatedly emphasized in the past that they want to keep Diomande in Leipzig. Both sporting director Marcel Schäfer and supervisory board chairman Oliver Mintzlaff have spoken out in favor of this. Rather than extending the contract—which runs through 2030 and contains no buyout clause—the plan was to renew it under improved terms, they said. During the World Cup in the U.S., however, Diomande put pressure on his club, stating, “I naturally assume that I will be leaving the club.”

Diomande was one of the major breakthrough players of the past Bundesliga season. In 33 league appearances for Leipzig, the teenager scored twelve goals and set up nine more. Leipzig will once again compete in the Champions League next season, which the club sees as a key reason for Diomande to stay.
