The Niners Chemnitz basketball team has advanced to the round of 16 of the Fiba Europe Cup as the unbeaten group leader. In the final preliminary round game on Wednesday, the Bundesliga club got the upper hand against Heroes Den Bosch by 88:61 (51:29) and so celebrated its 14th win in a row in all competitions. Ousman Krubally (14 points), Wesley van Beck (13), Aher Uguak (12), Brendan Bailey and Jonas Richter (10 apiece) played the biggest part in the Saxons' commanding home win. Only Austin Price (19), Boy van Vliet (11) and Emmanuel Akot (10) scored in double figures for Den Bosch.
The visitors were only able to keep up in the opening spell of the game. Chemnitz then pulled away in the final two minutes of the first quarter with a 7:0 run from 13:11 to 20:11 and went 20 points in front for the first time shortly before the break (49:29). The club from Saxony then took it a little easier, but did not get into trouble at any stage of the encounter. The home side dominated the game, especially under the boards, grabbing 44 rebounds. The Dutch were only able to grab 23 rebounds.
