The basketball players of Alba Berlin will have to make it to the final of the German championship without playmaker Martin Hermannsson. The Icelander will miss the Berliners in the decisive fifth semi-final against Niners Chemnitz this Thursday (18:30/Dyn) due to a calf injury. After Matteo Spagnolo and Ziga Samar, Hermannsson is the third point guard the club has had to do without due to injury.
In addition, captain Johannes Thiemann is doubtful due to a "persistent irritation of the patellar tendon insertion", as Alba announced a few hours before kick-off. The team from the Spree will only decide immediately before the game whether the world champion will be able to play. The score in the best-of-five series between the capital city club and the Saxons is 2:2.
