Saxony can expect more than four billion euros from the federal government's special fund. The state sports association is demanding a share of this.

The Saxony State Sports Association (LSB) is demanding ten percent of the federal government's special funds for the renovation and modernization of sports facilities. The investment backlog in Saxony's sports facilities is immense, amounting to at least 374 million euros for municipal facilities alone, announced LSB President Ulrich Franzen.

Many municipal and club-owned sports facilities are therefore outdated and in urgent need of renovation. "The federal government's special fund now offers a unique opportunity to make sport fit for the future and sustainably strengthen the quality of life in our cities and communities," said Franzen.
