The Saxon State Parliament plans to vote on the new police law on Wednesday (starting at 10:00 a.m.). Since the CDU-SPD minority coalition has ten votes for its own majority, the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) is expected to provide the deciding vote. The three parliamentary groups had agreed on this in advance. However, not all 15 BSW members of the state parliament intend to vote in favor, so a close vote is expected. The AfD, the Greens, and The Left oppose the new police bill.
Government Statement on the Situation in Rural Saxony
However, other items are on the agenda before the Police Act is discussed. Infrastructure Minister Regina Kraushaar (CDU) will deliver a specialized government statement on rural areas. The “Current Affairs Hour” will focus on the situation regarding psychotherapy and pharmacies in Saxony. The AfD wants to clarify who is really governing Saxony. Underlying this is the accusation that the CDU-SPD coalition is allowing itself to be dictated to by the Greens and the Left Party due to its lack of a majority of its own.
