The Volt party wants to support the SPD in the state election campaign. The parties announced this jointly in Dresden on Thursday. "There is a difficult majority in the state parliament and progressive forces are needed," said Kevin Schellenberg, Saxon state chairman of Volt. His party is not standing in the election itself. Due to the small team, they were unable to approach the state election campaign as they would have liked and therefore looked for ways to still participate.
In addition to similarities in content, the decision to support the SPD was ultimately based on the successful cooperation in the last mayoral election in Dresden. Volt treasurer Kay Schomburg added that they wanted to take part in campaign stands, posters and other events. It is also about public relations and especially about social media, where Volt is very active. Volt also wants to make a recommendation to its own voters to vote for the SPD.
